Spiritual Trees

Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV) “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever they do prospers.”

________

Imagine your spirit as a tree. God has designed this tree to flourish, bearing fruit for the glory of Jesus.

False beliefs are poisons that work their way into the root system of the tree. This poison is ultimately draw up into the body and limbs of the tree, where it greatly affects the life of the tree and the health of the tree’s fruit. The fruit of our spiritual tree will first manifest in our heart and mind, and then in our words and actions.

Jesus, who is with us through the presence of the Holy Spirit, is our living water. As we abide in Him, He sends refreshing water that clears out poisonous false beliefs and lies that prevent us from expressing Him in the greatest possible way. There is no limit to the growth of our spiritual tree and the fruit it can bear. As we are transformed inwardly, our feelings align with those of Jesus, and we experience in greater measure His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Outwardly, we manifest the Christ-life more and more in our words and deeds.

The healthier and larger the tree, the greater the experiential awareness of God. A larger tree has stronger roots and more leaves with which it is able to acquire water and sunlight. The Holy Spirit is our water, the river of life that flows from the throne of God. Christ is our light, who strengthens and nourishes us as we receive Him.  A tree does not force itself to grow. Growth comes naturally as the tree continues to deepen its roots and receive sunlight. Our spiritual growth is very comparable to the growth of a tree.
