Divine Attraction

“An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. Likewise, an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force.”

This is Newton’s First Law of Motion. This principal from the world of science can be easily applied to the human heart’s experience of God. God draws us into relationship with Himself by acting upon our mind and heart. He speaks to all of humanity, doing what He can to open our eyes to the reality that He is a loving Father. What is this “force” that acts upon the hardness of the human heart? It is faith, hope, and love acting together. Faith, hope, and love are the key to the future of Christianity.

A true relationship with God is never compelled. Rather, as the cross reveals, He offers Himself freely to us, in the hope that we may seek and choose Him. The faith, hope, and love of God rouse us from states of passivity and immovability. They stir us to decision and action. Once set in motion by this outside force of God, we will remain in motion in our spiritual journeys toward the center of God’s heart. So long as we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and these three spiritual ideals, we will always be growing and moving.

Faith, hope, and love are attractive. Every human has been wired with the desire for them. So long as these three are lacking in the Church, the world will remain opposed to belief. Jesus was full of authentic faith, hope, and love. As such, crowds followed Him.

A heart in motion is a heart burning with the faith, hope, and love of Jesus for the world. The world needs to see and experience Christians who are brimming with resurrection life. Faith, hope, and love can only grow in a living relationship with Jesus. They are an overflow of an experience of God and His love. Where there is faith, hope, or love, there will be spiritual movement or energy.

Conversely, the opposite is also true. Unbelief, hopelessness, and apathy. These three are the force that will kill any and all spiritual movement, whether individual or corporate. They can be avoided by maintaining mental focus on where the faith, hope, and love of Jesus. Let your faith, hope, and love radiate to others who have been slowed down or stopped by unbelief, hopelessness, and apathy.

Faith, hope, and love are the key for letting the world see Jesus. They the divine irresistible force that will slowly but surely change the future of the world.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV) “And now these three remain:: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
